Plantar warts are hard, grainy growths that show up on the balls or heels of your feet. They grow in areas that have a tendency to feel the most pressure. This pressure can cause the warts to grow inward under a thick, hard layer of skin called a callus. Plantar warts are caused by HPV, which is the human papillomavirus. HPV enters the body through breaks, cuts or sores.
Plantar warts usually aren’t considered serious, but they can cause pain or discomfort. If they remain persistent and are painful, they need to be removed by a physician. Call us to schedule an appointment to evaluate your plantar warts.
